Standing Sushi Bar & Chalkboard on CLICKABILITY!

Hey people! Let me share with you another finding from CLICKABILITY! Actually after watching two video Ms Jean have introduced, i think the interviews on Clickability are rather interesting and definitely have much learning points to gain and adapt!

Sells Yummy Japanese Cuisine
first open in 2009 by founder Howard Lo.
@ Raffles Place, 8 Queen Street & Marina Bay Link Mall.

Standing Sushi Bar being a small medium enterprise, is involved in digital marketing. But does digital marketing means increase in sales? I'm gonna tell you how Howard Lo looks at that and how he run his business. (:

Yes! It is indeed important for staff to know about the latest development in the marketing technology today! However, he did not focus on training his staff about technology. Instead, it is the service that he's concentrating on as having good service is the fundamentals to have in running a F & B business in Singapore. What he did was to only show staff how to utilise media and with that, translate it to more people! (: however, his focus was to build relationship with his customer.

So.. how does the sushi bar make use of new media technology for improving their business? They put promotions on Twitter, engage customers on Facebook and writing long post on blogs. But does this means more people? hmmms.. not exactly! some peoeple know them through hungry go where, a place where people can go online and review the restaurant talking about how good/bad the restaurant is. and talking about sushi standing bar, their ranking is #1! the best sushi in Singapore.

To sushi standing bar's boss,
Twitter means an internet base microblogging service that allow users to send and read short message! these message allows him to monitor first hand feedback. it is interactive because it is more of a two way communication! he can monitor what people are saying be it the restaurant, japanese food and experience with other restaurant. if people were to ask him questions, he can answer straight away too! it's like a chat! furthermore, he truly believes that people share is because they want to talk to people and want them to notice. "Instant feeback is direct from the customer, so they're talking right to me." the boss said happily and enthusiastically!

Blogging means a journal for the experience going through and it is also like a resource for people who are curious to come and know about how is it like to run a F &B business and all the behind the scenes.

Facebook means information dissemination. a platform for them to put up promotions/ photos and let people comment abit. is not real-time interactive, however, it focus on gaining information for the people out there.

overall, the point of having all these platforms are to make people feel like they are a part of the business and get the whole context about what it takes to run the F & B business, getting part of it and having the experience together!

their target audience of course are the young and text-savvy. however, their target market are the professional crowd with a stable income. their tactic here is interact marketing. so what's interact marketing!

For one instance, if the person would have no twitter a/c yet heard from their friends about the latest promotion, they gets a discount! the interact outreach comes in when everything gets viral. with this, we would translate into more customers & attention on the restaurant.

Next up, we'll look at a platform called chalkboard and we shall see how useful it is!
first, you should know what's foursquare ya? it's a pretty popular location-base application that allows people to check in and comment, review/tips about where they're at!

Chalkboard is something similar! it is a location based advertising solution and it updates potential customer about discounts, promotion, and events near them! This mobile application helps business attract potential customers! it helps the small medium enterprises to market around the vicinity! how chalkboard works is just like how the traditional chalkboard works; that simple! only difference is, it is D I G I T A L I S E D!

once the product is launched, they went to their potential customer to find out the side key!
the side keys were:
-one assumption; make it easy from technology!
-feedback from customer
-end customer will know!

Get connected!
from mobile --> WEB!
improvisation of the platform is made. they integrate seamlessly with social media like Facebook, twitter and heading to foursquare!

however, unlike foursquare, they do not have any analytic data yet. furthermore, it is not popularly-known and introduces to all, therefore the impact is not big enough!
critical massive people subscribing to service is their critical success!

some of the ground rules:
1. social media is a MUST! THIS IS PROVEN!
2. don't be discourage by bad feedback! respond well! Potential customer would respect for it!
3. don't be afraid to try out new revenues for advertising. Online social media marketing is the new frontier! (:

in time to come, there're a few factors that will surface:
1. usage of smartphones will increase! cost of smart phones would be cheaper!
2. technology marketing cost will decrease! this is due to the drastic improvements we have today. traditional media marketing cost drive would drop as retailer now can deliver advertising effective and simple!
3. content delivery; effectiveness of marketing! people can personalise their key messages relevant to them.
4. trend of people! people would think and connect.

"Embrace evolving digital future whichever way you do it.
If you build it, they will come.
If you go digital, they will come again and again."

SINGAPORE EDUCATION

Education in Singapore applies to every student around each and every corner of the country. It is always been know to other countries that Singapore Education system are up to a standard and it is kind of the "world-leading" standards. That's why we've many foreigners coming over to Singapore to study.

To Singaporeans, education in Singapore means only producing results? I think to the students, it is, as nowadays, we no longer study because we have the passion to but we have no choice. Well, i will say its not all who do not have a choice but somewhat, most of us feels that way. Agree?

But I've got to say that we should be pretty glad about our education system as it will benefit us in the future and bring our country to a greater heights. The Education System we have and recognised, is some sort like a journey that every Singaporean will have to embark on.

It is managed by the Ministry of Education which controls the development and administration of school receiving government funding. Furthermore I would say that the government have did quite a lot to make education affordable as we have got funding, bursaries, scholarship, etcetra.

We have actually quite a lot of schools in Singapore. One neighbourhood have at least 1 school, be it primary/secondary, agree? Furthermore, we've got the polytechnics and Singapore universities.

UPFRONT ON CLICKABILITY

UPFRONT MEDIA;
"is an ideas-led Communications Planning and Activation Agency. We deliver solutions for our clients from conceptualization to activation on traditional and digital platforms"

From the interview with the director of UPFRONT MEDIA, he actually mention some strategies that the company would implement for the New Media campaign for their clients. First, it is necessity to access if the company is ready. then, check if the business environment suits the social environment. Are they looking for short term sale/long term sale? If it is short term sale for about 3 months, drop the idea of social media. it is not recommendable to use that platform. why? because social media is about time. they need time to nurture and build relationship with the people. with strong relationship, the people will then turn to loyal customers. this is then, the first step of success.

To determine which social media tools is appropriate for the client's branding, it is important to know the business objectives as different social media tools have different target ways. Let's say facebook, it is more of a community based targeting. Video marketing, it would be good to have a youtube channel where users can turn to if they do not know how to use a particular products or sorts. Twitter would be more to announcing about the latest in things.

One digital marketing campaign that the company find it successful is the Old Spice Campaign; THE MAN, YOUR MAN COULD SMELL LIKE. it is a phenominal video. the director also adds on by saying, it is not about how many people see but about how it affects the business objectives affect. Successful results can be clearly seen from the increase of sale. for the first three months, the sale increased to 27% while at the last month of the campaign, it shoots up to 100%. They applied a reversed psychology to attract woman instead of man as woman buy things more willingly and oftenly!

Modern marketing strategy is a logical platform to get more loyal customers and get business thriving. Social media is good at building customer loyalty. Furthermore, everything is not only about demographic. it is not only about youths. it is about people stepping in the new community. Not about age.

How to gain customer loyalty? Everything starts with a conversation. we have to talk about the good as well as the bad side of the product/service/company. Be open. Give the company humanface. Eventually, people will gain more confidence in the product/service/company and this is how you get loyal customers!

It is necessary to track the people who visits the site, etc. this is how it will give new knowledge about new client because different people will lead to different success rate. we often need to think of long term and target people. with a target, its all about building a relationship.

last but not least, be realistic and beware of the output. (:

Youtube as an Online Marketing Tool

When we talk about marketing a product, we would oftenly think of how we can sell the product and convince the buyer ya? So how can online marketing pursuade one to buy product? HAR HAR... YOUTUBE IS THE ONLY MARKETING TOOL THAT CAN DO IT! like i said in my previous post, youtube is a platform where users can view videos just like window shopping. Neither do they need to pay nor do they need to sign up in order to view the video. Furthermore, they can rate comment share and download the video!

Is there any better way to advertise a product/service than providing a real-life video clip of how it works, why is it a good buy or how is it better than other products? Sounds pretty expensive ya? But, YouTube -- utilizing video clips to market businesses, it is no longer the same anymore! :D

First, your video content can be of your own creativity! No restriction and you can do it in the coolest way yo! Next, it is cost effective! Being a Singaporean, famous for our "KIASU & KIAM SIAP-ness" YouTube is one of the Free platform! :D Last but not least, Content can be put up effectively! No BUDGETS! No expiry date!

Furthermore, users can easily share content to Facebook, Blog, Twitter through YouTube. Therefore, viral marketing starts in any time at any where. We can connect and attract the audience easily! To re-emphasise, YOUTUBE IS GLOBALLY KNOWN. Therefore, the content posted will be reckoned by all people in the world.

Furthermore, if there is a positive feedback, it would be a BONUS point to your product/service! Because nothing is better than a positive response from a user!

If you were to leave your website URL over at YouTube, You will gain visitors to your site as they may want to find more about your product! This is will increase your Search Engine Ranks!

Whenever a video is added to your YouTube account, it leads to the innovation of one Profile channel by itself. Keen viewers normally build a part of this channel and might as well take its subscription. One might as well promote their websites further by mailing newsletters through email to these users. This actually adds on the the customer's list! (:

Youtube and it's Background

In its short existence, YouTube has become a classic example of a modern internet phenomenon. It is a video-sharing website that is used on a daily basis by people all over the world. It has been used to embarrass celebrities, to cause political storms, for entertainment, for self-promotion and for thousands of other reasons.

YouTube was founded in a garage, by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Karid Jarem in February 2005, and was officially launched to the world in December of that year from offices in San Franciso. YouTube is an online portal through which users can watch and share video content.

The initial vision for YouTube was that is would be a vehicle whereby young people in particular would have the facility to show off their talents as home movie makers, building on the increasing popularity of 'reality television' at the time.

A key to YouTube's early success was that viewers had the facility to send a link via email to their friends, which enabled the creation of a community of users. YouTube's technology also made it easier for bloggers and others to 'grab' a video segment and place it at their website extending the reach of its content to a wider target audience. It also let user decide which videos were worth watching by providing the facility to rate and recommend videos.

YouTube then benefited from the network effects that allow many companies to grow rapidly on the internet. In other words, the bigger a site's audience gets, the more success will feed off itself. Users can watch video without even registering. Its like shopping, but Window Shopping! You can find anything imaginable from the funny, to the weird to the sad that is available on the site.
