Though the semester started with 57 slides when birds are chirping, worms are sleeping. It's pretty a fruitful and interesting morning! It's kind of like a flash back of what we've learnt during our New Media Technique class period, but this time round its more in depth and easy to digest!
I would say that now, we're in a very digital era where marketing are made digital. This can be seen from the activities we engage and are exposed to everyday. For instance, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Blog, Email and other social media devices. However, digital marketing wouldn't be made possible if we do not have the traditional marketing techniques. That is why the more, we should not miss out/neglect the traditional technique! Though it is traditional, some of it are still being used today. One of such is the TV! There're also Prints -- Newsapaper and Magazine, Radio, Billboards, Events.
furthermore, from this, i actually realise that the cost of operation of digital marketing may be more cost effective as compared to traditional marketing. hmms.. what do you think? (:

vi-ral mar-ket-ing
noun
1. A method of product promotion that relies on getting customers to market an idea, product, or service on their own by telling their friends about it, usually by e-mail.
- a carefully designed viral marketing strategy ripples outward extremely rapidly.
Viral marketing is an idea that spreads -- and while it is spreading, it helps to market to your business or cause.
There are two kinds of viral marketing:
1.The classic and original sort in which the marketing is the product and which a self-amplifying cycle occurs. For example, Hotmail or YouTube. The more people use them, the more people see them. The more people see them, the more people use them. The product/ service must be something that improves once more people use it.
2.The second kind would be a marketing campaign that spreads but isn't the product itself. It spreads because people chose to spread it. It was viral because it is spreading and it was marketing because it had a price to pay for.
To add on, something viral does not mean viral marketing itself. We may create something completely viral but if that doesn't do any marketing at all, it is not considered as viral marketing. hmmms.. now i hope you've got a better idea of viral marketing yo! (:

Having twitter, facebook, and all other clever ways we can communicate online.. In fact we're spoilt for choices! What about Email? Isn't Email outmoded? This is the first thing that comes into my mind. Though there are better choices, email is actually one of the platform which is good for digital marketing too! However, with its goodness, there's a price to pay too! So let's check out why it's good and the Cons that may be faced!
Pros:
- Minimal cost of operation.
- Email allows targeting.
- It is data driven.
- It drive direct sales.
- Create Awareness.
- It supports sales through other channels.
Modern email marketing services now supports database integration, segmentation and various techniques for improving the targeting of outgoing messages. Being in an advanced technology society today, we can easily generate on-the-fly emails customised down to an individual recipient basis. With this, we can easily create awareness, encourage trust and cement loyalty.
However...
Cons:
- treat it as spam --> less responding --> cut potential profits down
- spam contain viruses and spyware --> users are aware of consequences --- avoid!
- complaint may get lodged against the company!
All these would cause just wastage of time and will put the company's reputation on the line!
yupps yupps. here's what i've got for now! (:
